The new dragster features the DNA of the original dragster which was introduced in 1988 that includes the hub center steering setup instead of conventional forks and exposed steel trellis frame, but the new model looks even more aggressive and arresting. The sharply faceted body works and those circular hubs look like LEGO Technic pieces. Overall, it looks stripped down and ready to do battle on the streets. The manufacturers website listed the bike as heaving new four-stroke euro 4 compliant engines ranging from 125 CC, 150 CC and 200 CC, all are liquid cooled.
Italjet is small Italia scooter and motorcycle manufacturer. Their Italjet 125 scooter was last sold in Malaysia in 2016. Since then they introduced other bikes such as the Buccaneer 250. The original dragster were widely received and garnered a cult status in Europe since its introduction until production stopped in 2004. The manufacturer knows this and used the tagline "we're not joking'" inn their website.
Both Dragster 200 and 125 have potent short-stroke motors. The brake calipers are from Brembo, and the tires are Pirelli. The suspension at each end is a single shock with a spring-preload adjustability. The front suspension is Independent Steering System with spring-preload adjustable piggyback reservoir shock, while the rear suspension is spring-preload adjustable shock. Aluminum front swingarm, MotoGP style hand-lever guards, superstructure for the front end and trellis subframe.
The 2020 Italjet Dragster 125 is the most striking of the two, featuring almost no bodywork behihnd its abbreviated fairings. Everything is on display , from the hub steering front suspension to the frame to the motor and rear shock. There is a full coverage rear fender to keep the rider free from road splatter. Italjet says production of the 2020 Italjet Dragster 200 and 125 begins in the second quarter of 2020. Both Dragster have passenger seating and floorboards for the driver, as well as traditional center stand.
